Two UNC Charlotte Undergraduates Receive Inaugural Bill Chu Cybersecurity Scholarship

Categories: General News

UNC Charlotte undergraduates Matthew Hampton and Nisna Tanna were named the first recipients of the Bill Chu Cybersecurity Scholarship, presented during the 27th Annual UNC Charlotte Cybersecurity Symposium.

The newly established scholarship honors Bill Chu, whose leadership helped build UNC Charlotte’s cybersecurity program and the symposium itself. It recognizes undergraduate students who show strong promise in the field through their academic achievement, curiosity, and commitment to securing the digital systems that communities depend on.

Hampton and Tanna were recognized before symposium attendees, a gathering of faculty, students, industry practitioners, and government partners from across the region. As the first recipients, they begin a tradition meant to support the next generation of cybersecurity professionals trained at UNC Charlotte.
